Protein is a component of food made up of amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks for major parts of a lean human body. They are crucial to the minute-by-minute regulation and maintenance of the body. Its true our bodies make its own supply of amino acids, but not enough, so we must get some from food. I hear some say, I do not like to cook and Im sick of chicken. Well good thing for you that protein comes in so many different forms.

Protein is the basic building block of cells and tissues that are needed to keep us strong and healthy. It is crucial for vital functions, regulation and maintenance of our bodies. Without adequate amount of protein our bodies can not function correctly. Protein is responsible for all growth, maintenance and the repairing of our cells. Not to mention that protein is crucial for energy stores and helps to ensure that our bodies work at optimum efficiency.

I hope you believe that protein is an important part of our nutrition plan.  All of our bodies need and love it, our muscles are created from it, while having healthy, beautiful hair, skin and nails, are just some of the benefits form it. How much do we need- well that depends on who you talk to ;). But like everything else I believe its individualized. I recommend you start eating it and listen to what your body is telling you.  You will know when you find your perfect amount.

What, You do not like meat or fish? Thats ok, you can still get it in from other sources like eggs, quinoa, rice, beans, legumes, dairy and tempeh (I do not recommend that).  Veggies even have protein in them especially the dark green, leafy ones , edamame, If you opt for protein powder or bars, look for some with high quality ingredients and less junk in them.

Boil up some eggs, cook up some turkey and have some greek yogurt on hand for an easy grab and go option. It will not take up much of your time and your body will treat you better.

What is your favorite type of protein?
